Maasboulevard

Lunchtime last Tuesday. Beautiful spring weather, too nice to stay behind my desk.
I found this cute old facade just across the bridge over the Maas. I was standing at a busstop, and while I stood drawing an old man chatted me up, telling me that he had been draughtsman in the (famous) ateliers of architect Cuypers in Roermond. Nice to hear these kind of stories.

Good use of your time. And your story is interesting. While I haven't done much pleine aire sketching, it's surprising to see how many people are attracted by someone sketching and the comments that they make.

In the early days I hid myself, but nowadays I draw in plain view. Most people don't even give you attention, and so far I never heard anything else than praise and lovely stories.
I think that what we consider to be just doing what we do; for most onlookers it's an act of magic. The artist at work, making paper and splashes of colour into something beautiful.
